Guess what?
I’m done with my undergraduate career at the University of Alabama!

Due to the storms on Wednesday, classes and final exams have been canceled for the rest of the year.
It’s sort of a weird situation, but students have the option of accepting their existing grades as of April 27, 2011, or they can take a final exam at a later date. For those students who request to take a final exam, faculty will have the option of scheduling the final exam on site when normal operations resume or via distance education means.
Commencement exercises scheduled for May 7, 2011, have been rescheduled for Aug. 6, 2011, when May and August graduates will be recognized.
My graduation was basically canceled
This was definitely something that was unexpected (and it really sucks), but like I said I before, you have to roll with the punches.
It hit me this morning that I’m now an unemployed college graduate.
I’ll admit, it wasn’t a bad day…
Catching up on workouts?
Thursday Workout
Running: 8 miles on the treadmill
I snuck a quick run in before dinner yesterday afternoon. After sitting down all afternoon on my flight, I needed some movement. It was too hot to run outside and I was dog tired from the previous night (you don’t sleep well after going through an F4 tornado and now knowing if half of your friends are alive), so I just did what I could
It got the job done.
Friday Workout
Running: 10.31 miles
This morning was an easy trail run along the lake that’s about 15 minutes from my house. I guess it wasn’t a real “trail” run, but it was definitely something different than road running.
I tripped on a rock, so I’m calling it a trail run. Deal with it.
Now it’s time to get some job and blog tasks accomplished before my graduation dinner with the family. We’re going to the Dallas Fish Market.
Should I do a restaurant review?

Woohooo!!! Well, considering you #1 just graduated, and #2 just survived a mega-tornado, I think you can give yourself a break in the way of being unemployed.
Have fun at dinner tonight – definitely want to hear how the restaurant is!

Congrats on being done with your undergrad! Woo hoo!
I’m so sorry you didn’t get a proper graduation ending, Matt! But on the plus side, you don’t have any finals or classes left– I’d be stoked! You should have your own, individualized gradation at the comfort of your own home, how fun would that be
Glad your safe and home– have fun with the fam!

I’ve got 6 biiiig exams from May 16th, and my dissertation is due in this week – it’s a scary time ..but then I’ll be done forever too!
Congrats and welcome to the world of post-grad unemployment!
My advice is to enjoy the free time (mid-day naps and all) while you can.

I’m glad you don’t have to stress over finals, but it sucks that it’s because of such a tragic event. I hope you plan on going to your graduation in August! It’s a really meaningful event – don’t miss it because it’s a few months late!

So you aren’t having a graduation? That’s not fun.
I can’t believe the weather out that way. And I thought I had it bad.

That’s quite an anti-climatic end to it all. I hope you were satisfied with your grades, so you are completely finished.
Congratulations!

Congratulations on your graduation. It is a great accomplishment. You can’t change what happened the last few days but your future is yours to embrace. Even though the economy is not the best, the best people always succeed. Your future life is in your hands on. Go for it….
That’s crazy, but congrats on being done! I technically should have graduated this year, but let’s just say I took a lot of time off

i was just reading about this on NYT. kinda weird… i assume employers will over look the ‘unofficial’ detail and still hire you all anyway.
congrats all the same on the (early) end of your college career!
