This week, we have Alan!
I think this post might be a milestone for my blog. The first male featured blogger.
Men are definitely the minority in the healthy living blog community. Is blogging really that much of a woman thing?
Hmmm…Anyways, lets show some love to this weeks featured blogger!
What is the name of your blog and how does it describe you?
The name of my blog is SweatingUntilHappy.com. It describes me because in May 2009 I hit one of the lowest points in my life. I had just been laid off from my job, weighed around 480 lbs, and I hated my life. It was at that point that I decided I was going to change everything in my life especially how much I weighed. I knew that in order to regain my happiness I was going to have to sweat these pounds off and a few months later SweatingUntilHappy.com was launched.
How long have you been blogging?
Since late 2009.
How many hours a day do you devote to blogging?
I honestly dont blog everyday. I have a very busy schedule and most of my time is spent trying to stay on track with my weight loss. I would say I spend 3-5 hours a week working on blog items.
What helped influence your decision to start blogging and the subjects you blog about?
I started blogging because I wanted a place I could share and store my thoughts, struggles, and successes with regards to my weight loss journey. I wanted to tell my story so in the future I could look back and see where I had been. I never in a million years thought anyone would read it.
As a blogger, what mistakes have you made and what did you learn from them?
I don’t know of any mistakes I have made, I am still learning about the in and outs of blogging as I go. For me I just try to always be honest and tell the truth, I don’t blog just to have something to post, I blog when I have something I want to say or share.
What is the most valuable thing that you have gotten out of your blog?
I would have to say it would be the new friendships I have made. The blog community that I am surrounded with is extremely supportive and inspiring, they help keep my fire burning.
If you could describe your blog in one word, what would it be?
Real.
Where do you see your blog in 6 months? 1 year?
I am hoping in that time to have my blog redesigned and moved from a Blogger platform to WordPress.
Has it been worth it?
YES, I know it sounds cliche but blogging has changed my life for the better.
Is there anything else you want us to know?
Check out my blog at SweatingUntilHappy.com and don’t forget I have a Youtube Channel!

I’ve run across Alan’s blog before and watched a couple of his videos. He does come across as very real and I wish him all the luck in continuing with his weight loss and healthy eating journey. My husband has also been losing weight for the last several years. There have been hard parts where he’s plateaued or gained, but overall he’s down 45# and getting close to 200. That will be a major milestone to celebrate. There should be more male health and fitness bloggers out there, I am glad you are both blogging.
