This week, we have Alaina!
What is the name of your blog and how does it describe you?
My blog is called The Jogging Concierge. I took up running 3 years ago after I initially lost 30lbs after college. I also work as a hotel concierge and as part of the job I get to go out and try out different restaurants in the city. My blog is all about balance!
How long have you been blogging?
I started a running blog last May (Blissful Running) to document my training for the Maine Marathon. I started this blog last August. Almost to the 1 year mark!
How many hours a day do you devote to blogging?
Ooh, probably a lot. I read blogs for about an hour…or two. When I do find something to blog about, a post is usually up within an hour. I’m also on Twitter for about half an hour a day.
What helped influence your decision to start blogging and the subjects you blog about?
I was so inspired by other healthy living blogs that I thought maybe my experience with getting healthy could help other people too. I lost a lot of weight after college and was able to keep it off by running, exercising and just practicing moderation. My job has me going to all kinds of different restaurants as well and I love writing about those experiences.
As a blogger, what mistakes have you made and what did you learn from them?
A big one I would say is thinking that success comes overnight. I would comment on all kinds of blogs just hoping that all of a sudden people would gravitate towards my blog. But after reading earlier posts of some of the more well-known blogs, I knew that the recognition would take time. And I continue to comment, tweet, and just try and get my name out there. Heck, even if it doesn’t get a huge following, I still have fun writing it.
What is the most valuable thing that you have gotten out of your blog?
I have made so many friends online and in real life through the blog. It really is amazing how close knit the blogging community is. I’m very lucky to be a part of it!
If you could describe your blog in one word, what would it be?
Ooh, that’s a tough one. Fun!
Where do you see your blog in 6 months? 1 year?
I’m looking to get my blog re-worked to have a fun, colorful layout. I hope to continue to make friendships and connections. My company was also interested in partnering up with my blog so hopefully that will help in getting the name out there!
Has it been worth it?
