Friday Favorites

*Have you voted in the first “Athlete’s Plate Challenge” yet?*

Thank God it’s finally the weekend! This week has seriously been dragging by!

Who is ready for some Friday favorites?

1. Bison Burgers

DSC_0636

I recently purchased some grass fed bison from Tropical Traditions. They were having an online sale a few weeks ago and I managed to get this cheaper (with shipping!) then it would have cost me at Whole Foods. Actually, the bison at Whole Foods isn’t grass fed, so I probably won’t purchase it there again. When it comes to meat, I am REALLY picky! If it doesn’t meet my standards, I simply won’t buy it or eat it.

2. Peanut Butter Oaties

Peanut Butter Oaties

Heather recently sent me some peanut butter oaties!

Thank You Note

These are AMAZING.

The second I opened the package, the wonderful smell of peanut butter floated through my nostrils. To me, that is what heaven smells like ;)

THANKS HEATHER!

3. The Treadmill

Treadmill

Did I just say that?

Between the cold weather and the icy roads, this is the only way I have been able to run this week. It makes me feel like a hamster on a wheel, but sometimes it is the lesser of two evils.

Simply put: Running indoors is better than not running at all.

Friday Workout

Running: 9.12 miles

Arc Trainer: 30 minutes

When I woke up this morning, my hip was SORE. If you didn’t read my post yesterday, I slipped on some ice and took a spill.

It doesn’t hurt to walk, run, or move around, but it is quite uncomfortable to sit down. I had to eat my bison burger (see above) standing up last night!

Luckily, running felt just fine. After the initial soreness and tightness went away, I was plugging away on the treadmill for a progressive style run. I started my pace at around 8:00/mile to warm up, but I worked my way down to 6:23/mile for the last one. I am going to be sore tomorrow! I haven’t run that fast in ages!

Thanks to waking up extra early this morning, I had time to cool down on the arc trainer. After 30 minutes of watching Saved By The Bell (best morning show ever), my workout was done. Boy that felt good today :)

4. Eat, Drink, and Be Vegan Cookbook

Eat-Drink-Vegan

I’ve had this cookbook for almost a year now, but I’m finally starting to actually use it!

My diet is nowhere near Vegan and I don’t believe in labels, but this cookbook really does have some great recipes.

So what if I added yogurt to the Banana Cream Pancakes?

It’s still a good recipe ;)

What is your favorite cookbook?

5. GLEE

Glee

After a few months of re-runs, I am so happy that my favorite show is back to new episodes!

Plus, Lea Michele is smokin’ ;)

6. Millet Bread

Soft, buttery, and simply delicious…

This is the best sandwich bread that I’ve ever purchased. Not the best bread ever, but definitely the best “packaged bread” ;)

So tell me, what are you loving this week?

I finally crashed and burned on the ice yesterday too – figures it happens two days before the ice is suppoesd to melt! Annnd I never thought I’d be so thankful for a treadmill until it came to this ice storm. My usual outdoor path is STILL closed. Fingers crossed that it’s reopened come Monday!

Bummer about the fall! Hope your bruise is better soon!

I made some fantastic turkey burgers this week…not sure why they tasted so good, but wholly yummm… They had some cilantro mixed in and I was thinking some of your pesto would go great on them next time.

So glad you’re enjoying the Oaties. :)

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m actually jealous of your access to the treadmill. As much as I didn’t like running on them in the past, I would love to have one in our house. It’s too cold to take Summer on walks outside, and I just need to move. Unfortunately walking in place doesn’t cut it.

Didn’t realize WF’s bison was not grass fed. Good to know!

When I used to eat meat, bison was the way to go! As you may know, I’m digging Daiya ‘cheese’ this week. Can’t remember the last time I had anything resembling a quesadilla!!!

Roasted Squash, Nut Butter (duh), Apple Butter…Chocolate…shall I go on?

Glee – hmm…I should try to make more of an effort to catch onto this craze. I don’t know much about Lea Michele but I seen her at the SAG awards and loved her dress!! I know she has good style? :)

don’t get mad but I think Glee is losing it’s steam. Lea Michele fell into the whole Hollywood trap and lost a bunch and weight and is a bitch on set down. BOOOO. I still watch though. I’m loving my dunkin donuts strawberry shortcake flavored coffee that I got at target right now!
