From Sweet To Savory

by Matt on March 8, 2012

The weather looks like this for the next few days…

Rain rain go away, come again another day!

Since my workout was forced to be inside today, I took the opportunity to do something a little bit different. We’re actually supposed to get some nasty storms over the next few days, so I’ll probably be cooped up inside until Monday.

I started with an easy 45 minute run on the treadmill (had to catch up on the news) and then completed a simple circuit workout. My goal was to complete 15 reps of each exercise with 60 seconds of rest in between each one. I completed the circuit three times.

  1. Push ups
  2. Dumbbell squats
  3. Plank (90 seconds)
  4. Shoulder press
  5. Tricep kickbacks
  6. Stability ball crunches
  7. Biceps curls
  8. Back rows

I like circuit training because I feel like it makes me stronger without getting bulky. I also feel like it helps me achieve my endurance goals because the repetitions are fairly high and the workouts are time consuming.

Another advantage is that it can be done virtually anywhere without any expensive equipment.

Do you like circuit training?

After my workout, I definitely had breakfast on my mind. Yesterday’s post workout meal was on the sweet side, but today, I had savory on my mind.

I ended up making two sunny side up eggs on toast with leftover roasted sweet potato wedges from last night.  Well, I guess the sweet potato was a "sweet" component, but I need some sugar in the morning. It’s basically essential.

Hmm… What will I have tomorrow?

My preferences are always all over the place! I usually want both, though. A lil sweet, a lil savor!

Yuck at that weather! Love your eggs though… 100% non-breakage rate ;)

Haha I actually used to do some circuit training workouts when I was in high school, but I haven’t done much since then. It’s actually a lot of fun when you get into the habit of including them in workouts!

Sweet… since you seem to be in an alternating pancakes. Maybe waffles since you have done pancakes and eggs this week? And thanks for reminding me about the lousy weather TX is in for this weekend.

It was 75 and sunny here today… but I think your weather is headed this way. :(

I like sweet and savory, but tend to do the sweeter cake-y breakfasts on the weekends. That way I have time to luxuriate in it. :)

sweet taters for breakfast FTW!! I always kind of crave a combo of sweet/salty after a workout…usually peanut butter provides the savory haha.

That’s exactly how the weather has been in Oklahoma! It was so nice yesterday, and it was rainy, windy, and cold today. I definitely took my run inside.

Ugh weather has been the same thing, but warmer of course. I was inside literally all day today, so boring! Looooooove circuits, my favorite!

Haha you’re like me, always ready for the next meal and planning it! Your breakfast sounds amazing. I want to try eggs with sweet potatoes now! I’ve seen sweet potato hash on some breakfast menus before.

I have recently fallen in love with circuit training. I think it really takes the boredom and routine out of working out. I also love those sunny side up eggs! Yum.
