Just A Rainy Day

by Matt on April 15, 2012

How’s the weekend going for everyone?

It’s been pretty good over here! It’s been quite the lazy weekend, but I totally needed it.

By the way, Sea Bass rules. It’s not the cheapest thing in the world, but totally worth it.

Seabass

Moving along…

It’s definitely storm season in Texas!

On a perfect sunny day, it’s easy to get motivated for a bike ride or run outside, but when spring showers make the outdoors less-enticing place, it’s much harder to find the will to work out.

Weather

I knew that it was going to be an indoor workout day when I heard the hail overnight.

I don’t give up on getting fit by waiting until there’s a more favorable forecast. Instead, I get creative indoors!

  • Indoor cycling or trainer workouts (spinning)
  • Treadmill workouts
  • Circuit workouts
  • Exercise classes
  • Rock climbing
  • Yoga (I’ve never done it, but I know people who love it)
  • And so much more!

You can always suck it up and run or ride outside, but that’s up to you. I’m a wimp though!

After a lazy day yesterday, it was hard to get motivated this morning. I ended up missing my alarm (I set it for 5 PM instead of 5 AM) and didn’t have time to get a run in before having to be somewhere at 8 AM. I ended up going to an afternoon spin class, but it threw my morning out of whack!

I ended up doing 3 X 20 minute intervals on the treadmill (with 5 minutes rest in between). It was far from exciting, but it got the job done!

What’s your favorite exercise on a rainy day?

I need to try sea bass sometime! And grilled corn is the best.

You know I love my yoga ;) I’m the type who will suck it up to walk outside in a snowstorm or thunderstorm or whatever, but only because I hate the treadmill so much haha.

It’s been kind of crappy here too. I do not do outdoor running with the rain, no thanks!

hahaha I saw your tweet – “I’ll just keep running till it stops!” love it. I’m not a fan of the TM so if I’m forced to be inside I will be on my sweet self-cooling bike trainer hahaha. I actually get a better workout on the trainer though since I’m still a little skittish out on the roads – and there’s no coasting or downhills. I totally need to try sea bass too – I love fish, that’s one i’ve never had!

To the sea bass comment – so right, it’s totally worth it. I only order it out at restaurants because I’m worried I wouldn’t prepare it properly at home and I’m scared to waste such delicious fish!

Sea bass is so amazing! But actually I think my favourite fish are some of the cheaper ones… salmon, trout and arctic char!

It’s a rainy weekend here too so I’ve been doing treadmill runs and weights at the gym!

Ooh I LOVE sea bass! One of the best Christmas dinners I remember was when my dad made it the star of our dinner plates.
It was actually quite nice here today (sorry!) but on a rainy day, I like to do treadmill workouts, circuit workouts on the indoor track, and, on days when it’s so bad that I don’t even want to walk 10 feet from my door to the car, at home yoga.

I’m still on my yoga kick, but I’ll never turn down a sweat session on an elliptical. Love that damn machine.

Since I live in Seattle and it rains here more often than not, I’ve learned to just “suck it up” and workout in the rain. When its really bad though I head to the gym and workout on the treadmill or bike.
When I was back home in San Diego my problem was the really hot days more than the rain… that’s when I took my workouts indoors there.

On a rainy day I’ll pull out a workout DVD I have not done in a while! Sometimes I forget what videos I have.

If there’s no lightning, I love to run in the rain. Otherwise I hit my treadmill or go to a yoga class. Not much keeps me inside.

Ick…I hate winter/rain! I wish I could just eat my bodyweight in food and hibernate until spring lol. But I don’t think I’d look too hot in a bikini come summer if I did that. So I take my booty to the gym and rock some weights or get sweaty with some cardio or yoga. No excuses right???

We had amazing weather this weekend, so I got lucky. My favorite rainy workout is P90X. It keeps me on track and engaged for a good hour.

I agree with you, unfavorable weather should never be a reason for skipping on your exercise regimen. There are a lot of alternatives for outdoor cardio training.

Is it odd that whenever I hear “sea bass” I think of that movie, Dumb & Dumber? :) Ha – haven’t seen that one in forever.
