Taking It Inside

by Matt on March 20, 2012

Considering the weather looked like this for the past 12 hours, my outdoor run was instantly canceled.

Weather

I always sleep like a baby when it storms though!

However, I know that it’s time to move because I can’t tell the difference between thunder and my neighbor that lives above me. Yes, he’s that obnoxious. He either has one of those dance dance revolution games or he’s just insanely oblivious to the fact that other people live around him.

Thank God I’m moving in 39 days. You have no idea how excited I am.

Since an outdoor run wasn’t in the cards for today, I made my way down to the gym and did an indoor spin workout.

I love having free access to spin bikes!

This is a pretty simple ladder style workout that can be done in under an hour and it will totally kick your butt. The interval times and intensity gradually increases to a peak of 5 minutes, than gradually decreases to the cool down. 10-minute warm up

  • 2-minute seated acceleration (moderate resistance)
  • 1-minute rest
  • 3-minute seated acceleration (moderate resistance)
  • 1-minute rest
  • 4-minute seated acceleration (moderately heavy resistance)
  • 1-minute rest
  • 5-minute seated acceleration (heavy resistance)
  • 1-minute rest
  • 5-minute standing/climbing acceleration (heavy resistance)
  • 1-minute rest
  • 4-minute standing/climbing acceleration (moderately heavy resistance)
  • 1-minute rest
  • 3-minute standing/climbing acceleration (moderate resistance)
  • 1-minute rest
  • 2-minute standing/climbing acceleration (moderate resistance)
  • 10 minute cool down

Yep, it totally kicked my butt.

How’s the weather in your neck of the woods? Are you staying dry?

My money is on your neighbor being a dance dance revolution CHAMPION. :)

The weather here is record-setting – both the heat and pollen count. Please send some rain to wash it away.

Looks like a great workout! Unfortunately my school’s gym doesn’t have spin bikes for us to use :(
I hate to tell you but it was 80 and sunny and gorgeous here in Vermont today! But, then again, given the amount of snow, ice, and cold we deal with, I think today was well deserved!

Love that spin workout! Always a butt kicker and leaves me feeling refreshed. I keep thinking I may want my own spin bike…I want to park it in front of the TV haha because that’ll make it easier to just work out for awhile on it!
