The Dream Cafe

by Matt on July 23, 2011

Last night, I met up with Clare for dinner!

We both just started new jobs in Dallas this week, so it was great to meet up with someone with similar interests.

Dream Cafe

We went to the Dream Café, located in the Uptown portion of Dallas.

Everything on the menu sounded really good, but I ended up with the “Global Dinner.”

Dinner

Organic Black Beans, Brown Rice, Chicken or Tofu, Jack Cheese

I couldn’t decide between chicken or tofu, so I got both! FYI, that cheese was just as good as it looks :)

Clare rolled with the “Stir Fry.”

Stir Fry

Strawberry Sweet-Sour, Chinese Long Beans, Tofu

It looked pretty good!

We ended up talking for about two hours! The topics included work, schedules, running, food…

Blogging type stuff ;)

After awhile, it was time to call it a night.

After last week of work, I totally have respect for the people who work from 8:00 to 5:00. I’ve definitely worked 40+ hours a week at my old job, but it was never 8:00-5:00 everyday. Some days it was mornings, some days it was nights, and some days it was both. I now understand that 8:00 to 5:00 is rough, especially when your mornings start at 5:00 AM with a workout!

After sleeping like like a rock this morning, I was up around 7:30 for a run.

I woke up too late to make the drive out to White Rock Lake (where I wanted to run) because it would have been too hot by the time that I actually made it out there, so I ran on some roads around here.

I ended up doing 11 miles!

I still haven’t had time to explore the area, but I plan on doing that at some point this weekend.

I’ve deemed that today is my “errand and chore day."

So far, I’ve…

  • Cleaned the kitchen
  • Cleaned the bathroom
  • Vacuumed
  • Washed my clothes
  • Folded my clothes

The only thing left to do is get groceries at Whole Foods and mooch some lunch off of Bama-dad ;) Trust me, he likes it!

The rest of the weekend will be pretty low-key. I’m meeting up with someone from work tonight and then having dinner at my parents house on Sunday (I think). Hopefully they still want to have me over!

What are you up to this weekend?

I wish I didn’t live in blogger no-man’s land… blogger meet ups look like so much fun. Today was a chore day for me, too, and the rest of the weekend looks like it’s going to be mostly devoted to running errands. No complaints :D

I love that you can get both the chicken and tofu! I can never decide what I want in my own place for dinner -so I often end up combining – it could be eggs and chicken or tempeh and salmon….but it’s almost always a couple of things. Probably not the best taste combos though!

Looks like a great dinner and a lot of fun! :)

I’m sure a new, hectic schedule will take some getting used to, but sounds like you’re already taking good advantage of your weekend. Have fun at Whole Foods and with the work friend tonight!

11 miles?! Matt, you’re insane. I wish I had even half of the drive you do to complete that kind of workout.

And ahh, pepperjack cheese is my favorite. Love the bite it has! Great meal choice ;)

working a full-time job IS hard! between blogging, working, socializing, keeping an apartment clean, eating, exercising, there is often not enough time to do everything. that’s one of the main reasons i haven’t been able to blog as much as the main reason why i don’t have time to read many blogs. i wish i had more time to do both – i have to sneak in the blog reading at work instead :)
