The Weekend

by Matt on August 26, 2012

Bummer. It’s Sunday night and I’m not ready to go back to work tomorrow.

Friday night, I met my mom at a restaurant that I hadn’t been to in ages!

My dad was out of town to do the walk-through on their new BEACH HOUSE (hello vacation!), so we decided to have a mom-son dinner night.

We have our fingers crossed that we can spend Thanksgiving there!

We went to Blue Mesa Grill. I haven’t been here in several years, but I remember it being really good, so I suggested it.

It was really good, just like I remembered!

I ended up getting the taco trio with sweet potato hash and “smoky” black beans. Woah those beans cleared out my sinuses! Definitely smoky.

For my tacos, I chose one chicken, one shrimp, and one salmon. I like variety :)

The good food didn’t end there!

Last night, I met one of my friends that I hadn’t seen in what seems like forever at a tapas restaurant. Honestly, this might be my first true tapas experience. I like to have a meal that’s my own and I don’t have to share with anyone.

The highlight of the meal was the margherita flatbread. Man this was good! Normally I like a lot of cheese, but the dough was so good that it didn’t need it.

Did I just say that?

To make up for it, I can assure you that I did visit Whole Foods earlier in the day.

This is what I see when I first walk in…

I ended up getting one of my favorites, Manchego. It has a firm texture and a buttery flavor. Simply amazing.

I had plans to go to a shooting range today to use a Groupon that I bought, but due to poor planning on my part, it didn’t work out. We have plans to go Friday night instead!

I still have a few things to finish up for the night, so I’m signing off!

How was everyone’s weekend? Tell me the highlight of yours!

I don’t like sharing my food either. Plus whenever I go for tapas, everyone wants something that I don’t want or vice versa.

Mmmm 0 so much good food! I totally hear ya about food sharing. I like my own plate too. I’ll share a bite, but split a meal? You’re on your own!

I don’t want the weekend to end either.. wishing that we’d have a hurricane day! Highlight: driving around all afternoon yesterday looking for a new home– no success and exhausting, unfortunately.

MANCHEGO IS MY FAVORITE! I feel like a lot of people don’t know about it, but it’s seriously amazing.

Love how they let you have three different kinds of tacos. I’d want the same thing, always better with variety. :-)

yesterday, I went for a bike ride for the first time in over a year – on a fancy road bike, no less. It was pretty epic, except for when the boyfriend blew a tire and we had a very slowww ride back, lol.

You always have better cheeses than I do. A family beachhouse would be amazing!

Never go out to eat with me!!! I LOVE to share. Maybe that is because I can never make up my mind on what I want to eat. Lol. I’m so jealous of that beach house!

I love Manchego cheese too, first had it in Spain and it’s been a sentimental favorite since. We made something a lot like your entree at home last night. Grilled up a couple of flatbreads (I made the pizza dough, my husband grilled it) and topped one as a margherita, the other with goat cheese and rosemary.
