While some days I like to enjoy the quite and peacefulness of an early morning run, some days I just need some tunes to get me pumped up and motivated.
I normally have no issues motivating myself to get out the door, but everyone has those days when they need an extra push. Today was definitely one of those days.
My running tunes are always dependant on my mood and what kind of run I’m doing. If it’s a long and/or slow recovery run, I like music with a slower beat to help me keep the pace down. If I’m doing a faster run or interval workout, I’m all about the fast paces, pump me up music.
I had a slow recovery run planned for today, so I crafted a random playlist to keep me entertained.
A lot of times, I just put my iPod on random and I listen to whatever comes on. I have thousands of songs and I don’t even listen to 25% of them!
Today I used the genius feature on iTunes and it generated a playlist for me in about 5 seconds. Apple, I love all of your products.
What songs are you loving right now? How do you pick your playlist?

I’ve been listening to music on almost every run lately. I used to run sans music, but I guess I don’t want to be out there with my own thoughts — I lose focus and get distracted.

Music always made me run faster. I like to sing while I run too… under my breath unless no one is around.
Two Step = great song.

Of late I have been limiting my music to only when I am on the treadmill to combat boredom/be safe. In a race I may bust it out if I really need it ..and I do create specific playlists for races. Big runnerd that way.
Sabotage by the Beastie Boys is a fav of mine.

you have excellent taste in music I must say. I like to bring music on days where I’m feeling tired and unmotivated, it usually helps me get my butt in gear
. 30 Seconds to Mars and Jimmy Eat World are my faves!
I love listening to harder more aggressive music when I am weightlifting like Lincoln Park and The Used. I like more upbeat poppy music that I can sing along to while I run.

Love this playlist… U2 is amazing. I always listen to music when I go to the gym since I’d get way too bored otherwise, but I usually just pick an album and listen to the whole thing. Boring, I know

I too like to just enjoy a quite peaceful run. But sometimes I need some music to help get me through a long run or a tough run/workout. My favorite bands/ artists are Casting Crowns, Third Day, Natalie Grant, Newsboys, and Mercy Me.
Haha Goo Goo Dolls- that’s that 4th grade classic right there! I still know all the words lol

Lately I’ve been running with Pandora on. It keeps things interesting with a mix of songs I know and love and those that are new to me.

some of those songs are a bit to slow for me to run/workout to. I need something upbeat and fast and heavy. lately i’ve been listening to lamb of god or children of bodom.
i do love that eagle eye cherry song. do you know his sister had a hit song in the 80′s? it’s also pretty good.
